On March 19th 2008, three years ago, we woke up early and drove to the hospital for our 6:30 AM check in. Gigi was about to become a big sister and our family circle was about to become complete.  After all of the vitals were checked and I was well medicated, Dr. Banfield made the incision and withdrew our little red and robust son and brother.  It is amazing how much one little 8 pound person can drastically change the lives of three other people.  On Gigi’s birthday we celebrate becoming a family, along with her becoming a new age.  On Jude’s birthday we celebrate not just the change in his age, but the anniversary of when Gigi became a sister and when our family was complete.  Saturday, March 19th 2011 was a celebration for just us.  Our family woke up to presents for the boy, a trip to get fancy cupcakes and a lot of down time, playing with toys and enjoying one another’s company.  It was the perfect way to celebrate our Jude, our family and the best big sister!

First?  Robin takes the scene.

Then he opens a few presents.  It was a pretty good haul (we realized that Jude has baby toys, Gigi’s girly toys, and not a lot outside of Star Wars so we went a little large, we admit.  But it was fun.)

Gigi playing with the marble drop set that I bought, really, for me.  I have always wanted one.  Fortunately, both of my kids seem to like it too.

The truly awesome pirate ships.  Truly.  Awesome.  He LOVES them and plays with them daily at this point.

It is fun to take pictures of pretty cupcakes.  We let each of the kids choose a cupcake topper to put on their favorite cupcake.  It doesn’t take to many brains to figure out whose is whose!  Gigi chose red velvet cake while Jude went with the classic yellow cake and chocolate frosting.  Neither were disappointed!

And the last gift?  A giant castle for the pirates to storm!  I think he is all set now.  It was a nice, relaxing birthday – the perfect third birthday to celebrate our boy.
