My favorite Sinead song.  I will always have a soft spot for her brand of mojo.  If I were a single fellow I woulda answered that ad!  Even before kids I loved that stanza:  “I love my boy, and that’s why I am leaving.  I don’t want him to be aware there is any such thing as grieving.”

Black Boys on Mopeds 2

This is your song to me. It has indignation, social injustice and the outcry against it. It has a mama, protecting her babies like you would. And your voice. Oh, your voice, you sing this so beautifully. All I can imagine as I hear this is the sound of waves rocking and slapping the hull of the Chris Craft while we canoodled in the v-berth, made munchies and learned about one another during those first months of crooning from my newly minted true love.Thank you for the permanent gift of this song, Bear.

I love this song too. I listened to this album in high school almost nonstop.

Tami was leaving to go out with her friend and the kids begged to go with her. I said, "you don't want to go with mom, she is going to the Tapas bar and we are going to stay here and play games."

Gigi stiffened, "That's weird", she said as she blushed. I processed fast and realized the problem. "TAPAS bar. It means 'small plate', not TOPLESS bar!"

The checker at the store asked our always conversational little boy what his name was. He replied "Jude" then added "but sometimes they call me pumpkin brown". LOL.

And they are right. We call him that after the folksong that we sing sometimes.

A long time ago…
