We are on book two of the Narnia series. Two nights ago, we finished book one: The Magicians Nephew. Last night we considered what we should read to our children next… It occurred to us that we have one almost teenager and one almost 7, if there is a moment to seize, this should be it. We decided to continue reading the Narnia series through until the end! You should have seen the kids as they started making connections through the two books… The wardrobe… Diggory… And a mysterious mansion with a strange man with familiar servants out in the middle of the country… This is the first time they can enjoy literature like this and it is a thrill to be a part of it. It took me until I was nearly 20 to read the series, and then I did it in two weeks! I’m so happy my own kids will have even longer to marinate in the brilliance that is C.S. Lewis.

Tami was leaving to go out with her friend and the kids begged to go with her. I said, "you don't want to go with mom, she is going to the Tapas bar and we are going to stay here and play games."

Gigi stiffened, "That's weird", she said as she blushed. I processed fast and realized the problem. "TAPAS bar. It means 'small plate', not TOPLESS bar!"

The checker at the store asked our always conversational little boy what his name was. He replied "Jude" then added "but sometimes they call me pumpkin brown". LOL.

And they are right. We call him that after the folksong that we sing sometimes.

A long time ago…
