Last night we were allowed aboard a lovely vessel owned by the Jansens.  I work with both Joanie and Carly, and over the past few years Joanie has talked about the Christmas light parades that her yacht club participates in every year.  This year I asked Joanie in early December if they ever have an extra seat on their boat during one of their cruises that we would like to come along.  It turned out that we were part of a small gathering, just their daughter Carly, who also happens to be Gigi’s teacher, our family, the captain and his first mate, and a couple who hopped on-board just as we were leaving.  As we headed out into Lake Union a flurry of boats started making their way under the bridge, flooding the waterway, sparkling with lights.  It such a special experience.  We made our way around the lake, bundled in blankets, snuggled up on the bow, singing Christmas Carols and having a lovely time.  It was a reminder to Bradley and I about how we started off in the Chriscraft in the Port of Everett, and made us think about how perhaps we would like to spend our retirement on a boat.  Time will tell, but it seems an appropriate way to bookend our life of adventure together.  SO this was a special adventure that we were ever-so-grateful to be able to tag along on.

The following are pictures that don’t capture the splendor of it all.  Night pictures without flash are not a favorite of our camera’s, but I still think they are pretty.
