I was looking at a blog recently of a former high school classmate and she includes an entry every once in a while called “What My Phone Saw This Week.”  I love this idea.  Not everything I photograph or think about fits neatly into a blog entry.   I don’t have a lot to say or a long story about everything, but somethings are too good to pass by…

Like this.  How weird is this?  Alone it looks strange, but when I also add that Gigi spent the morning combing and styling the blades of sedge grass, this picture is actually pretty cute!  So, read on for more like this…

My Mother’s Day gift of a chalkboard made by the kids and the hubs.  It is now hanging above our bed where we can change it to match our moods and the seasons.  PERFECT!

My little “Daisy Head Jude” being very judel-riffic!

First ever self shot on the new phone.  My nose looks gigantic in every one that I took which means my nose has grown or the camera is just not flattering.  The mirror (and my heart) say it’s the camera…

This is not a good picture but it has one of the best women I know in it.  My Mom and me on Mother’s Day.

And one of the best men.  Love my dad, and by golly, is that a real smile I see?  Tee-hee-hee!  My dad doesn’t smile unless he’s laughing.  He’s that guy in the picture who right when the camera clicks he gets so anxious or something that he makes a snarky remark and looks weird in every one with his mouth open and eyes pointing every which way.  Now we force him to say tee-hee-hee over and over while we take pictures.  It makes him embarrassed and he starts authentically laughing, resulting in a decent picture.  He’s worse than a toddler.  But for the first time ever, we have really good pictures of my dad, and that is worth everything.  The following picture, and I am not even kidding, is of my father after I told him to smile.  This is what he did:

I think we can all agree that our method provides a vast improvement on preserving his legacy.

Speaking of legacies, we stopped by to pay respects for Mother’s Day to two of the most significant people in Bradley’s life, and of course, the kids and mine as well.  We all miss Grandma and Grandpa Kobs, but no one in our house feels their absence quite like their Grandson.

Finally, this weekend marks the 21st anniversary of my senior prom.  Not the biggest deal ever, but certainly it was a memorable night that kicked started my romantic life like no other.  As James and I have reconnected, it seemed appropriate to revisit the photographic evidence too!
