Bradley’s friend Gary loaned us his little caterpillar to level out our backyard.  Jude discovered it in no time flat, climbed in and proclaimed it as, “My truck!.”  We aren’t arguing!

Most of our house looks like this now, drywall, screws and a little bit of insulation showing.  It is wonderful to see the rooms taking shape and showing their true size.  Our lovely drywall installation guy’s wife is expecting a baby any minute…  Here’s hoping for a safe delivery and completed drywall installation before too long!

This Spring Break week, like many families, we escaped to the beach.

We loaded up the car and made the long journey to the shore for a magical adventure at the beach.  We unloaded our sand toys and headed to the sandy shore.  Jude threw rocks while Gigi worked on building the sand castle to beat all sand castles.

The sun shone while Jude poked at stray crabs (BUGS!  YUCK!) and slipped on the seaweed.  While he wore his boots the entire time we were there, he did not want to get them wet.  On the other hand, Gigi spent the majority of our escape barefooted in the sand.

About an hour later, we left Edmond’s fine beaches.  Spring Break was over and it was time to get back to real life, choosing paint colors and laboring at the house.  While short, our Spring Break trip to the beach was delightful!

The weather has left us without many tasks this week.  Our drywall guy is in the house so there is little for us to do in there.  The soil has turned to the consistency of cream cheese which negated the possibility of laying the patio or placing the retaining walls, so we have turned to paint.  It doesn’t seem like it should be that big of a deal, but man!  We are finding this task ridiculously time consuming!  We thought we had it figured out with this combination:

PICT0096 But when we put it on the wall we had to squint or wear sunglasses to look directly at it.  We don’t want to be ‘that’ house that is so bright it becomes a landmark in the neighborhood.  So that sent us into a frenzy of paint sample purchasing and slapping the colors on the house in an attempt to find the just right color.  Here are the combinations so far:

We are still dissatisfied and combing through neighborhoods to find the perfect combination of greens and light trim.  So onward we march…

We spent the first day of our spring break cavorting through two different Easter celebrations.  The first was at Gigi’s former preschool which was at the Gold Creek Community Church.  They hold pretty over the top celebrations for most of the major holidays, and Easter is no exception (on  aside note, this is a pretty progressive church: AC/DC plays on their website to promote their youth programs).

We started out at the spray-on tattoos.  I got one, Gigi got one, and so did Bradley.  Jude wanted one, like wouldn’t leave he wanted one so bad.  But each time the sprayer got near his arm he would scream bloody murder!  So, the good parents that we are, we held him down while he screamed to get the thing on him rather than wait an hour for him to make up his mind.  It was one of those moments when we felt like really weird parents, forcing their toddler to get a tattoo, who does that?  Well, apparently the Littlejohns.  He was thrilled to have it when all was said and done, but certainly a little embarrassing.

Here is Jude at the egg hunt for two year olds.  Jude got super duper competitive at this event.  At first, he was uncertain as to what the goal was, then once he realized what was going on, he was RUNNING and picking eggs as fast as he could!  In this picture, he spied the last egg on the floor, two kids were reaching for it, but Jude ran, dove and snatched and he was the victor.  While we don’t normally condone that extreme competitive nature, this time we were laughing pretty hard as we left the area.  Gigi’s hunt has no pictures because it was in the dark with only black lights to illuminate the eggs.  It was a pretty cool experience that left Gigi with a good half pound of chocolate!  We left the church and headed for the Mill Creek treasure hunt.

This was one bunny that we encountered today…

    PICT0623

And here is the other.  Jude ran up to both and hugged them, the bunny had to squirm away from his firm embrace.  We were pleased that he seemed to love the bunnies so much, it bodes well for Disneyland and the characters who live there!

We came home, tired and well deserving of the naps we all took!  Happy Early  Easter!
