Sometimes things just don’t go your way and you have to let your mom and dad know how unhappy you are.  In this case, we were leaving the rose garden at Woodland Park without spending a whole lot of time looking.

Gigi came and told us that she had scratched her tooth and now something was wrong with it. Upon inspection Tamara declared the tooth loose and heralded the arrival of the tooth fairy anytime now. Cue the tears and fuss as Tamara ironed out the worries over Tooth do-s and don’ts.

Teeth are such strange little wooden things. I was just brushing mine and reflecting on the loose little chiklet that Guinevere showed us today wobbling about in her mouth… One kid is just growing teeth, another is losing them and I simply want to keep the ones I have just as they are.

  • We Went to the Zoo, Zoo, Zoo (how ’bout you, you, you?)

My mom gave Gigi a membership to Woodland Park Zoo for her 5th birthday.  Bradley takes the kids three to four times a month, but because I am not on the pass they have not been since summer break began.  We decided it was time to check on our animal friends and also to invite my mom, Lydia and Luke along for a fun day at the zoo.

It was kind of funny.  Every time we came across one of the bronze animal sculptures, all of the kids would pile on and holler, “TAKE A PICTURE OF US!  TAKE A PICTURE!”

We each picked an animal that was a must see.  This was my first time seeing the flamingos.  One of the birds walked in circles the whole time stamping its feet in an attempt to rustle up some grub (literally) and their backward-bending legs were fascinating to me.  I was also surprised that they look more peachy/orange rather than pink.

Everybody wanted to see the bears, and they did not disappoint!  They were actively gnawing on one another, wrestling and walking around.

Jude found it necessary to kiss every statue that he saw.  SMOOCH!  All together now: Awww!

The zebras and giraffes showed up for Lydia, who counted them as her must see animals.

Ahoy, penguins!  Luke and Gigi wanted to see the penguin’s new habitat that opened recently.  It offers the penguins a lot more interesting things to do, places to swim and even places to hide.  We were able to see them under water as well as on land.  Very cool.

We arrived at the orangutan habitat in time for them to eat lunch.  The primates were given carrots and we were able to see them crunch away their meal.

The cousins left for a dentist appointment and we had time to play and picnic.  A successful outing to the zoo!
