Cereal Messes

One morning, quite recently, Jude was eating his cereal and eggs quielty while I cleaned out the dishwasher. Then I realized that it was TOO quiet, something was suspicious. I walked over to find Jude. Do you notice anything wrong with this picture? Take a closer look:

That’s right, his cereal is no longer in the bowl. In his super secret squirrel way, he managed to dump his Cheerios in a section of his highchair. That boy!

Jude will not appreciate this as an older child, but this photo is one of the glories of having a toddler in the summertime. Cute.

Stinky Feet
08.07.09 | Permalink | | Comments Off on Stinky FeetJude loves to play Stinky Feet. The game goes like this:

1. Smell Jude’s feet. Exclaim, “Oh! Stinky Feet!!! You have SUCH STINKY FEET!”

2. Watch Jude squirm, chortle, giggle and scream with joy at the thought and act of grossing us out with his ‘stinky’ feet.

3. Repeat. Over and over. And over.
It is funny to me how absolutely engaging and exciting this game is for Jude and was for Gigi. Stinky feet are the best. The funny thing is that Gigi never really had stinky feet. On the other hand, Little Brother, Jude, truly does already have stinky feet at times.  The things you notice between two children of different genders… I’m not saying anything…

Siblings Who Lunch
08.06.09 | Permalink | | Comments Off on Siblings Who LunchGigi has decided that Jude needs a buddy when he eats. In an act of kindness and compassion, she has started pulling her chair in front of Jude’s highchair when they eat meals together.

They make silly faces a one another and Gigi chatters to Jude about what’s what. Jude throws food, acts silly and sometimes even gets some lunch in his belly. It is wonderful to see my kids and the value they place on one another.

The LJ’s Beat the Heat (not really)
08.05.09 | Permalink | | Comments Off on The LJ’s Beat the Heat (not really)We were marooned at home in our hot hot house during our recent heat wave. We employed a variety of strategies for keeping cool.

First, the pool was our lifesaver. The pool, the pool, the pool. We have a pool that is about 2.5 feet deep but it was pure bliss! We were in it, out of it and back in it over and over every day many many times. The pool was definitely our biggest saviour.

Jude is not such a big fan of the pool just yet, but he sure likes a good hose! He spent time dragging it around and accidentally squirting himself down with it. He cried, but he also cooled down.

Panting, haircut, baths and more panting…Â For out pets that is.

Both of our kids were stripped down to their skivvies for sleeping. Gigi even kept a canteen next to her bed to sip on when in an emergency at night. With a fan in each room, I wouldn’t say they were cool, but we did our best. There’s not too much to be done when the temperature is hovering around 100 and doesn’t get any cooler than 75 at night. It makes me grateful to live in the Pacific Northwest where we the temperatures are reasonable and temperate.
