Ikea

Today we went to Ikea to get quotes for our kitchen cabinets for the home we are building.  Gigi loves Ikea.  What five year old wouldn’t?  She gets to go to Smalland, where she meets friends, colors pictures, and dives through a sea of balls. However, to get into Smalland, you have to be pottytrained and three years old.  That leaves Jude out.  As we left his sister in Smalland, he put his face to the window and called out, “Gigi!  Gigi!”  She ran and jumped and played, he came with us.

Our first stop was to the kitchen section, and then we were free to follow Jude’s whimsy.

We headed for the children’s section where Jude tried out a rocking horse, a tunnel and the great egg chair.

He also found a few stuffed animals he liked!

Then we moved onto the office furniture.  Jude tried out a few different computers and computer tables he liked, but didn’t find the just right thing that he had in mind.

We went to retrieve Gigi and headed out.  On our way, Jude chose a broom to purchase, as cleaning is a current passion of his.  Future custodian???  Maybe, or he just copies what he sees Daddy doing.

A fun adventure, even if he couldn’t get into Smalland!

Of the Caterpillars

[singlepic id=53 w=320 h=240 float=]I got the caterpillar cage.  Then we writed a letter to the people who send the caterpillars.  The mailman brought them to us.  It took a long time.  It was like you were driving to Disneyland or something and that takes three or four days.[singlepic id=54 w=320 h=240 float=]

Today they came!  I felt excited that my caterpillars came.  I put the caterpillars in my room.  I named them.  Their names are Sparkle, Glitter, Penelope, Gemmy and Diamond.  I have five caterpillars.[singlepic id=50 w=320 h=240 float=]

They are going to turn into Painted Lady Butterflys.  Right now they happen to be tiny lady caterpillars.  They are very cute.

Here are the stages of a caterpillar.  One stage is a caterpillar.  That is the larva stage.  The next stage is their cocoon.  During their cocoon they start to change into a butterfly.  After that they turn into a butterfly and they lay eggs and they turn into caterpillars.  It goes over and over.[singlepic id=51 w=320 h=240 float=]

I think that the caterpillars are going to turn into cocoons and butterflies.  I love my caterpillars!

Walk the Line

Jude, the closest thing to a bonafide rockstar in this household, strutted his stuff on the morning of Saturday, June 6.  Following punk rock credo he did so on his own terms and in his own sweet time.  There was no hemming or hawing, he just stood up and finally did it and then kept on doing it.  At this point, one week later,  he does not crawl at all really.

I believe there is a hint of indie rocker sensibility in him as well;  he offers up a sort of literary edge by way of his actions;  In his refusal to hobble around pre-walk in any real way he conducted an artistic representation of the character Charles Wallace in A Wrinkle in Time.  Charles did not walk until he could stand up and do so perfectly.  If Jude chooses to refrain from speaking until he can do so in full sentences then I shall expect wonderful adventures involving Tesseracts in our near future.  Do I really have to get captured and whisked away to another dimension?

Anyway, congrats to Jude our little boy who puts the Vigor in Vigorous.
