“Twelth” Night

I just finished a poster for a friend’s (Vincent Delaney) play. Perhaps the crowning moment was the point at which I received an email pointing out that the draft looked great… but Twelfth has an “f” in it. “F” was what was going through my mind at that point because I had aspired to do the lettering by hand. I was trying to riff a whole Toulouse Lautrec/Moulin Rouge sort of thing out of the poster. It wasn’t so bad to fix it after all (ah, Photoshop).   I am actually pretty pleased with this one. It is also the first time I made it through a computer coloring project without having to color correct and make massive changes once I started printing out color sheets. Hooray for me.The play opens next week (On Jude’s Birthday)!

King Kong
03.05.09 | Permalink | | Comments Off on King KongJude has turned into a rabid and fearless climber. He has a robust joy for the art of trussing his leg up onto the sofa and heaving his skinny little frame up there, from there he is attempting to stand on the sofa table or reach out perilously to try and swing out onto the handles of the exercise bike some feet away. This has warranted the very unstylish practice of pushing the coffee table up against the sofas so he cannot surmount them and we have to jockey the coffee table if we want to sit down.

Bed Bugs II
03.03.09 | Permalink | | Comments Off on Bed Bugs IIKing Kong the climber was tired tonight, but he didn’t know it. He was hollering and fighting the sandman like crazy and nothing we were doing would keep him laying down in his crib: bottle, sucker, soothing music or his birdie soother. There he was, standing up yelling as loud as possible when along came big sister Gigi who gently laid him down, gave him his bottle and tucked his extra soft Elmo blanket around his body. He quietly stared at her for a few moments then the eyelids began to droop and the angry hollers turned to soft snores as he drifted off to dreamland. What an amazing sister. Mom and Dad didn’t have the special touch, rather his kind, sweet and amazing sister had it tonight. What a lucky family we are to have a girl like that.
