After a walk in the woods…
Jude found a beautiful leaf and he needed to write a scientific paper about leaves.
Daddy wrote his important words as a draft.
And Jude copied his important words in his own handwriting.
Jude has learned that punctuation s is very important so he made sure to put a period at the end.
Jude was very proud of his writing,
Just as he should be!

40 Before 40

I’ve lost a total of115 pounds since my heaviest weight and 48 pounds in 2013 alone. Color me proud and happy. 🙂

Cross Country

Guinevere came in third place today at the season opener of cross country! It was so exciting to watch her take off. She was in the middle of the pack as she headed out of sight.
When she rounded the bend and made her way to the home run, she was in third place. We screamed and hollered and cheered her on. For a moment one other girl pulled in front of her, but Gigi sprang ahead as quick as she could and finished strong. She was PROUD.

Boy’s Day

Wednesdays are non-school days for Jude. While Bradley thought that he was going to miss miss miss his boy (and he really does miss him), he’s found that three hours four times a week isn’t really that much time apart. Together they are finding a rhythm, boys in the morning doing man’s work, running errands, then in the afternoon Bradley does a last minute tune-up on the house before he sets the alarm to pick up the kids on time and gets lost in his work.
Wednesdays are different though. Wednesday are for park trips, explorations, for opportunities to do things, just the men, in this series of fleeting Wednesdays. As last year, then, this summer wore down, Bradley felt the future absence of his family acutely. But with these Wednesdays it’s like they’ve been given one more year to make the most of their time together.
This particular Wednesday was lucky. Bradley found a coupon for a free breakfast at McDonald’s, so he surprised Jude with a men’s morning out. Jude marveled that he actually got to visit that restaurant, much less with his dad. Cheers for boy’s day!

Rain Walk

Yesterday was a three mile loop with the kids to the store and back. We had just gotten dressed and ready to go when the clouds burst overhead. We waited fifteen minutes or so until the deluge settled into a downpour, then we headed out. Jude was decked out in his Spider-Man rain boots so puddles were very attractive to him, while Gigi kept saying, “I’m dressed for exercise, but I’m still fashionable!†It was a wet walk, but a really fun one.
