Normally, a dental trip wouldn’t be worth photographing endlessly, except Jude’s enthusiasm for the dentist made this a celebratory excursion!
Big sister went first and she got an x-ray. Wanting all the same rights and privileges, as they walked by that chair that Guinevere had sat in Jude asked why he wasn’t going to take the fancy picture. The hygienist answered that his mouth was probably too small. He said, “But I have a big smile!” He sweet talked his way into the X-ray chair where they found a set of very healthy choppers!
Everything was endlessly fascinating. Jude had the best time ever and can’t wait to return!
*incidentally, especially the Lj children’s father was so happy to hear the report that the tooth regime in our house is top notch and our kids have wonderful, clean, healthy teeth!

September Snapshots

I made and wore these atrocities in high school. They fit again- that’s cool to be wearing high school jeans again, but whatever shall I wear with these?!
Some things never change- my dad I and wrestled exactly like this until I moved out. I still think I could take him.
The cool kids. (We bonused a visit with my parents and my niece and nephew all in one evening!)
This is why I hate getting out of the bed in the morning. Snugglebugs!
This marked a little over 200 miles of running AND my six month anniversary of becoming a runner.
Guinevere is sooooo proud of her paper flower!
Bubble bath, Lj style. Jude said it was like being in a warm Hoth. Star Wars aficionados understand.
Guinevere’s birthday decoration preparations are well under way!

On the Last Day of Summer…

It was so fun, pulling out all the plants, stripping the tomatoes off the greens, digging up potatoes, picking the pumpkins… I was dripping sweat and was happy that I managed to find a second workout in one day. We loaded all the compost greens out to the truck and marveled at our harvest. Tonight we are eating tomato soup, made from a share of the hundreds of cherry tomatoes we picked. Yum! We gleaned about 20 pounds of tomatoes, six Cinderella pumpkins, ten pounds of potatoes (quite by accident), one cucumber and exactly two-and-a-half carrots.

Magic
Yesterday we went on a hike at St. Edward’s Park. Guinevere and I have enjoyed running on the trails the last few times we’ve gone hiking so we asked Bradley if he minded if we ran ahead. We took off like rockets and had the best conversation about 10th birthday party decorations, her dream wedding, what her sweet 16 party will be like and the fact that her husband better be a vegetarian because she is really not interested in dealing with carcass. She is nine. I’m nuts about her.
We got to the lake and, while we waited for the boys to emerge from the forest, we sat on rocks at the water’s edge as she told me how much she enjoys running and talking with me. I told her that I hope this is something we get to do until I’m a very old lady. I really do. It was magic today.

Week One
Week one went without a hitch. Like, seriously- NO drama at all. It’s rather wonderful! Jude finally has a place where he is just Jude- not a brother or son, no name to live up to, he is his own and he is loving his new identity as a student! Guinevere seems to have settled into a circle of friends she established last year and finally seems like she belongs at Moorlands. It’s a good feeling, having both of them perfectly happy right where they landed!
