Grassland Office
06.02.10 | Permalink | | Comments Off on Grassland OfficeWe went to the park yesterday and I realized that the color scheme for my office was right there in front of me. As I posted earlier I have that really greenish green as my big high point and then the grey tone like the tall brush in the background, and I decided to match the dry grass for the neutral walls around my work area. If it works in nature it should work for me, right?

Fixit
05.31.10 | Permalink | | Comments Off on FixitNot to brag, but I am pretty proud that I was able to lay hundreds of feet of flooring this weekend, come home Sunday night to problem-solve and fix the water pump on the dishwasher (cheap piece of junk), then get up and take apart my netbook and fix the keyboard pincard connetor. I am just all over the place with my mad skills.

Bamboo Beginning
05.28.10 | Permalink | | Comments Off on Bamboo BeginningI started laying the bamboo flooring this afternoon and it is going down pretty nicely. I had to run the flooring differently than I wanted to take advantage of the floor joists, which makes the views between the rumpus and living rooms nice and long but shortens the view from the entryway… oh well, newcomers be damned.
I have yet to suffer the terrible splinters I have been warned about although I did remove my fingerprint from my pinky with a screwdriver today. This weekend will hopefully be a lovely one that allows me to almost complete the flooring in our new house.
UPDATE: Â Here’s what 1:00 of day 2 looks like.
… and here we are two hours later.

Green Screen
05.27.10 | Permalink | | Comments Off on Green ScreenI purchased the green paint for the proposed green wall in my “drawing studio” this morning and got to swatch it on.  I think it is going to work out just fine.  This green dances that line I wanted of being vibrant and Granny Smith-ish without accelerating all the way to zany.  You have to love and fear the chartreuse. Plus, won’t it be so cool when the wall is painted and I can pull a Zach Braff a la Garden State and disappear into the wall like a gecko with my shirt that matches the wall.

ToDo: Get Bamboo Flooring. Check!
05.26.10 | Permalink | | Comments Off on ToDo: Get Bamboo Flooring. Check! It was such a big job trucking in the bamboo flooring by pick-up so I would have it for a marathon session of installation this Memorial Day weekend that when I went to check it off my todo list and found it wasn’t even on the list, I had to add it on just so I could satisfyingly tick it off and see it bump over into the completed column.
