We headed to Craven Farm today to meet up with my family. It’s rare now, with my mom and dad living out of state, that all of us manage to get together much anymore. It was pretty incredible that 100% of the Hansen Clan was representing!

It was an opportunity to capture our next generation, together, complete at last. Gigi and Lydia seem to have found a bit of common ground, Luke, Kyan and Jude ping off of one another amiably, and everyone cavorted together through the corn maze, for the launching of the pumpkins and across the pumpkin fields in search of the the most sincere pumpkin. It was quite a time for those five.

We’ve had a lot of good fortune in recent years, getting our best family pictures at the pumpkin patch. I suppose orange suits us well! Seeing these year after year truly makes me believe that what we did today is important. I saw my brothers, my parents and the kids all laughing, playing, connecting and sharing real life. We shared a meal, caught up on life and celebrated one another. It was a really great day.

It is the best thing ever!
Can you imagine having a mermaid/merman tail as a kid? Talk about realizing a fantasy! Guinevere’s friend, Brooke, researched and purchased a tail online, and, after seeing it, Gigi just knew she was meant to be a mermaid too. My mom stepped forward with her sewing skills and pieced this together with things found online. We have not been in our hot tub without it since her birthday. Along with the jets, we now have lots of elegant tail swishing and fin flipping.

Our whole family has a cold. Each of us is in various stages of the cold- Jude is pretty much done, Gigi is at the tail end, mine is at phase two of the beginning, and Bradley is just coming into it. That said, exercise is really important to us. I get antsy and agitated and irritable if I don’t get out to move every day, not to mention paranoid that I’m going to lose my momentum and stop exercising altogether or something. So yesterday we went to Bothell Landing to take a little walk with two playgrounds and many chestnut trees.

Bradley and Jude have spent a tremendous amount of time researching the life cycle of the chestnut tree. They are the coolest tree in that boy’s mind now. When we arrived at the chestnut tree we spent a solid 20 minutes or so scrounging the chestnuts off the ground, out of the tree and cracking them out of their spiky husks. When we returned home, the chestnuts had stems and smiling faces added to them as they were transformed into pumpkins.

On Friday night we went to see Annie- the play was put on by a local theater group. It’s not a dressy place, but we like to spiff up at any given opportunity, and this was no different. At one point, we found ourselves, all at once, standing in front of our bedroom mirror, which gave me the idea to take our first group family mirror selfie! Ha!

Look at those Lj’s! I’m proud to be among these numbers. I love my family!
