Batman & Robin
02.14.11 | Permalink | | Comments Off on Batman & RobinJude & I went to Ikea today to get some pieces for the entertainment center we are putting together.
We had a nice little lunch there. I finally figured out how to eat at Ikea without feeling cheap and used afterward. I get the veggie sandwich and foreswear eating anything they might have steamed or left misting together under a heatlamp all the live long day.
Anyway, this was a lead-up to mentioning that Jude is excited about playing Batman and Robin lately. He is so sweet running around and looking for the Penguin or Joker. I thought I was being Batman until Jude pointed out “no dadda, I Batman, you Robin”.
Then he declared “to the Batmobile, Robin!” and we headed off to Ikea singing the batman theme. Good days. Jude and my toddler self would have had a blast.

New Year’s Eve
01.04.11 | Permalink | | Comments Off on New Year’s EveCold and brisk, New Year’s Eve arrived along with our Bellingham loves, the Jacobs. Sage, Luna, Jeff and Michelle gifted us with a night of laughs and a chilly walk at the beach. The kids stayed up until midnight, the grownups until 3:00 am swapping stories and laughing heartily. It was a much needed moment of happiness and relaxation during our winter break.

Gigi and Luna nestled in the top bunk, pajama’d with no intention of going to sleep anytime soon! (Just as it should be at a sleepover!)Throwing rocks in Lake Washington.
Pretty in pink, noses, that is.

Festive (and Easy) Cookies
01.03.11 | Permalink | | Comments Off on Festive (and Easy) CookiesI have to admit that I got this idea from Gigi’s former kindergarten teacher’s blog. What was great about them? The kids could make them all by themselves! A wonderful treat, and a fun craft all in one!

A Bit of Sparkle
12.25.10 | Permalink | | Comments Off on A Bit of SparkleOur house with that ever – so – important December frosting of festive lights. These are what I miss most in January, the piece that brightens our lives in our cold, dark winter months. I love driving around and seeing our community lit up and electrified, and I love to see how so many people contribute to brightening the lives of so many with something as simple as a few lights.

He says “Mimi!”, “Yes?” he replies to himself in a softer voice. “It is nap time Mimi!”. “OK.”, says Mimi. “Mimi, tell Bop Bop it is nap time. Right Now. C’mon Bop Bop. Go to bed”.
